There will be no excuse for those in the Square Mile not to be plugged in come August. The City of London Corporation is planning to provide blanket wi-fi coverage for the whole of London’s financial district.
Wi-fi transmitters will be fitted to street signs and lampposts, providing everyone in the area with wireless access to the internet.
Peter Burnet, deputy city surveyor for the City of London Corporation, tells Computing (Feb 23) that the plans were drawn up after consultation with the business community.
The network will be run in partnership with wi-fi specialists The Cloud.
